It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (10-17-16)

Happy Monday! Last week was a pretty light reading week for me, in large part due to the Chicago Cubs. In general, I am not a baseball fan. I've been to a few games over the years (though none major league), and each time, my boredom reached epic proportions. There's no major league team in Nebraska, and baseball isn't that big here. But my dad, who was born near Chicago, is a lifelong Cubs fan, so I've always wanted good things for the Cubs, even though I rarely pay any attention. The postseason is different, though. There's something about the stakes being higher that turns me into a raging fan, if only during the month of October. So I've spent several evenings over the last week able to do nothing but stare at the TV screen and cheer for the Cubbies as if my screaming could make a difference!

What I read last week:

Nothing. I mean, I read things, but I didn't finish a single thing.

What I'm reading now:

She Reads Truth by Raechel Myers & Amanda Bible Williams. I made some good progress last week (it's my current lunch break book) ... and I cried twice. Raechel and Amanda are very transparent as they tell their stories, and I couldn't help but emotionally react.

The Cautious Maiden by Dawn Crandall. This is the fourth book in Crandall's Everstone Chronicles, and so far it's just as good as the first three!

Cold Case Christianity for Kids by J. Warner Wallace & Susie Wallace. My thoughts so far: I wish I'd read a book like this when I was a kid.

What I'll read next:

Here's what I've learned so far from my It's Monday! posts: I am terrible at predicting what I'll read next! My best guess is the book that I picked last week (and obviously didn't start reading).

A Lady Unrivaled by Roseanna M. White. Earlier this year, I read White's The Reluctant Duchess, the previous installment in her Ladies of the Manor series. I loved it, and I'm hoping A Lady Unrivaled will be just as good!

  2. I don't follow baseball much during the regular season - just enough to know how my team is doing; then I get serious once the playoffs start. My team is the Blue Jays, and it seems they are running out of luck. :-(

The Cautious Maiden and A Lady Unrivaled look so appealing to me! Both are on my wishlist, in fact. Here's what I'm reading this week: http://justasecondblog.blogspot.com/2016/10/what-im-reading-october-17-2016.html

    1. See, I pay so little attention to baseball that I didn't even know the Blue Jays were in the ALCS! Here's hoping for a major comeback--I ALWAYS root against Ohio teams (it's a holdover from college, where the Ohio kids were so annoying about their state)!

And that's a great reading list. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I haven't read any of her suspense--just her Hope Harbor series, which I loved! I've now finished two of the three books I had in progress, and they were very good. Now to write reviews ... :-)
