It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (10-31-16)

Once again, I spent a lot of free time watching the Cubbies. I also learned "Go Cubs Go," and it has been running on a loop through my brain ever since :-)

On Saturday, the Huskers played at 6 and the Cubbies played at 7. What's a fan to do? Put the Huskers on in the living room and the Cubbies on in the kitchen and stand in the middle, of course!

I did actually manage to read quite a bit, though, largely because I had to. A couple review deadlines snuck up on me, and I had to speed read. Fortunately, the books I hadn't anticipated reading yet were excellent!

What I read last week:

The Devoted by Suzanne Woods Fisher. On Tuesday, I got a reminder email saying my post for The Devoted's blog tour was due on Wednesday. It was on my Google calendar, but somehow I had completely missed it. Oops! Fortunately, The Devoted is a wonderful book, and I flew through the pages. (It also helps that I'm a really fast reader!) This book just might be my favorite of Fisher's so far. (5 stars).

The Name I Call Myself by Beth Moran. This is the other book I wasn't planning to read right away. I just finished it tonight, and the review will go up later this week. It's a quirky British novel, and I loved it! (review and rating to come)

She Reads Truth by Raechel Myers & Amanda Bible Williams. I finally finished this one. I need to sit down and really go over my thoughts as I write the review. I highlighted so much in this book! It's so, so applicable right now! (review and rating to come)

Aboard Providence by Keely Brooke Keith. Though it had an intriguing concept—a group of Christians emigrates to South America just prior to the Civil War and ends up in an unexpected place—I struggled to like this novel. (3 stars).

What I'm reading now:

A Lady Unrivaled by Roseanna M. White. I had to set this one aside in favor of some of my more urgent reading last week, but I did sneak in a few chapters. Still loving it!

Where Two Hearts Meet by Liz Johnson. This is my current lunch break read, and I never want to put it down after my allotted 30 minutes! I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I'm absolutely loving this second book.

What I'll read next:

A Convenient Christmas Wedding by Regina Scott. I'm going on a work trip next week, and I need to have the review for this book posted the day after I get home. I'm hoping to take only my Kindle on the trip, so I'll need to read this paperback before I leave. Hopefully :-)
