Stacking the Shelves (1-21-17)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly linkup hosted by Tynga's Reviews. It's all about the new books accumulated over the week. As it's been many weeks since I've participated, I'm going to highlight some of the books I've gotten over the last month.

(Clicking on the book title will take you to the Amazon page. It's an affiliate link, which means I get a small commission if you purchase anything. If you're uncomfortable with this, just open a new browser window to Amazon and search for the book yourself.)

Kindle Freebies

Note that these ebooks were free when I got them, but prices fluctuate frequently, so be sure to check to see if they're still free before you click "buy now."

Sapphire Ice by Hallee Bridgeman

Conductor of Light by Rachel McMillan
This is a novella in McMillan's Herringford & Watts mystery series. I really enjoyed the first full-length novel, The Bachelor Girl's Guide to Murder. I'm a little behind in the series, as the second book released last May, but I look forward to catching up!

Kindle Books I Purchased

The Captive Heart by Michelle Griep
I had the opportunity to review this last fall, and I passed on it ... then I started reading the awesome reviews, and I regretted it. So when I saw it on sale last week, I snapped it up! (It's still 99¢ as of right now, by the way.)

Review Books

Restoring Love by Jennifer Slattery
Slattery writes novels that often tackle topics not prevalent in Christian fiction. I look forward to reading this latest novel, which I think might be more romance-based than her last.

Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse
I don't normally accept general market YA titles that are offered to me for review because they are frequently filled with sexual content and strong language; I'd rather wait and see what others have to say about them, first, and then I might buy or borrow them. (I pretty much always read reviews before deciding to buy a book.) I went ahead and took a chance on this one because it sounded so good. And then I proceeded to read it in a day! I have some very mixed feelings about it, so keep an eye out for the review.

Have you read any of these books? Did you like them? Do you read reviews before buying a book?
