It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (3-20-17)

Hosted by The Book Date

Happy Monday!!! Or maybe I should say, HAPPY MARCH MADNESS!

It's true—I go a little crazy during March Madness. I pay zero attention to college basketball until the tournament begins, and then it's all basketball, all the time. Every single year, I pick Kansas to win it all. Most years, I'm horribly disappointed. But things are looking good so far! (My bracket is still in remarkably good shape. I did have Duke in the Final Four, but my other three teams are still in it!)

During football season, I'm all about Nebraska. It's a different story during basketball
season—which you would understand if you followed Nebrasketball at all :-)
After I posted last week, I remembered that I had a review due this week ... so that book jumped ahead of everything else. I didn't get it put on my Google calendar, which saves my life with book reviews ... so I'm really glad it somehow came to mind! For this particular publisher (Kregel), the blog tour runs Monday through Friday, and I'm almost always scrambling to post on Friday. But this time, I'm posting on Monday. Maybe I'm turning over a new leaf :-)

What I read last week:

The Elusive Miss Ellison by Carolyn Miller. If this hadn't been a review book, I absolutely would have quit reading after about four chapters...and then I would have missed out on what turned into a great regency romance! (4 stars)

What I'm reading now:

Just the Way You Are by Pepper Basham. I've barely started this one, but so far, I'm really enjoying it! It's about a single mother from the US who meets a famous British actor (think JJ Feild from Northanger Abbey and Austenland). It looks to be great!

Homestands by Sally Bradley. So here's a story for you; when I was judging speech last week, I had a little time between rounds, so I pulled up the Kindle app on my phone. Somehow, I managed to sign up for a free trial of Kindle Unlimited ... so, I decided to take advantage of my free 30 days before I cancel. I've heard great things about Bradley's writing, and Homestands caught my eye. So far, so good!

What I'll read next:

When Tides Turn by Sarah Sundin. This one's gonna jump ahead of the others, as the review is due next week. I'll probably start it tonight ... and then I'm sure I'll have trouble putting it down to go to bed!

What have you been reading recently? I'd love to know! Do you follow the NCAA tournament? How's your bracket doing? Who do you want to win it all?

  1. Those books all sound great. I just started a book for review. "Some Small Magic" by Bill Coffey, a new to me author.

    1. I've heard of Coffey, but I've never read anything by him. Enjoy!
