It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (3-6-17)

Happy Monday ... or not. I've actually had a frustrating Monday as I tried to deal with customer service at two companies—the manufacturer and the extended warranty company—regarding a broken TV. (Seriously. If a product is defective, I should not have to pay to ship it to you.) No resolution yet, but I'm now listening to my new Laura Story CD, which is helping to lower my blood pressure. Hammond is helping, too :-)

This goober makes me so happy!
There hasn't been much reading going on here in the last week because ... Smallville. That's right, Smallville. I just discovered it's on Hulu, and I've been watching a ton. I checked out of Smallville sometime around season four of its original airing—I was just so tired of Lana—so I was curious about what happened through the rest of the show. I randomly picked an episode in season six to watch last week, and it was fine ... but then I fell down the YouTube shipper video black hole and discovered SPOILER ALERT (if you consider something that happened eight years ago to be a spoiler) that Oliver Queen—played by Justin Hartley of This Is Us—and Chloe ended up together. And I just had to see it unfold. So I skipped to Season 9, episode 3, which the interwebs told me contained their first kiss.

The interwebs lied to me.

But I continued watching, and I'm totally sucked in! I'm watching Blendy style, where I skip over the character arcs that don't interest me. (I'm looking at you, Zod and Tess.) Basically, I should finish the show sometime next week :-)

The minimal reading I have done has been enjoyable. Here's hoping I carve out more reading time and less binge watching time this week! (Check out what everyone else has been reading at this linkup.)

What I read last week:

For Love & Honor by Jody Hedlund. This is the third book in Hedlund's YA medieval romance series, and it's my favorite! (5 stars)

Moving Target by Lynette Eason. This novel is the perfect blend of romance and suspense, and it kept me guessing throughout! (4-1/2 stars)

What I'm reading now:

Restoring Love by Jennifer Slattery. This is still my lunch break read, but I'm pretty sure I'll finish it this week. I'm still enjoying it, though there are some time jumps that are a bit confusing.

The Chillbury Ladies' Choir by Jennifer Ryan. I picked this up again last week after setting it aside for a few weeks, and I quickly remembered just how delightful it is! It'll be my go-to relaxation book this week.

What I'll read next:

I'm sooooo bad at predicting this, so I won't even try. It'll be a surprise to all of us next week!

  1. Just finished For Love and Honor, and am looking forward to Lynette's this summer (anything that's not INSPY related or a review book is getting pushed aside. For now). Next up in Katie's latest. Cannot wait!

For me, my current binge TV was Emerald City. Finished it last night, so now I'll have to move on to something else. Which I'll have no trouble finding. ;)

    1. I've heard of Emerald City but haven't watched any yet. You'd recommend it?

Katie's is in my TBR pile, as well. I got it so long before the release date that I moved other things ahead ... but it's about time to pull it out!
