It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (6-26-17)

I'm back!!!! It's been nearly a month since I participated, and I've missed it. My schedule is finally slowing down and allowing time for reading for pleasure again! After I submitted the yearbook two weeks ago, I had to dive right into INSPY reading. The winners will be announced shortly, and I'll be sure to share the announcement here :-)

Over the weekend, my parents and I traveled to Kansas for a family wedding. While it was an incredibly quick trip (we didn't even get to stop at Spangles!), it was so nice to see extended family.
My mom with my great-uncle. He's my grandma's brother, and we see him far too infrequently!
Today marks the first day of three that I'm taking off this week. I'm hoping to do some much-needed blog maintenance, some long-overdue cleaning, and watch a few movies. Maybe I can actually make a bit of a dent in my TBR pile, too! However, when I started a load of laundry this morning, I heard a suspicious dripping sound. Yup, my washer is leaking. I so hope it's easily fixable (and something my dad can take care of for me). Buying a new washer is not on my list of things to do this vacation!

What I've read recently:

Jane of Austin by Hillary Manton Lodge. I could go on and on (and on!) about this book. A modern-day adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, it is completely delightful! (5 stars)

The Whys Have It by Amy Matayo. Incredibly intense and emotional, The Whys Have It shows that no one is beyond redemption. (4-1/2 stars)

The Noble Servant by Melanie Dickerson. This medieval novel, based on The Goose Girl and The Prince and the Pauper, may not be my favorite of Dickerson's novels, but it's still an excellent read! (4 stars)

The Captain's Daughter by Jennifer Delamere. I loved the setting of this novel—a London theater in the late 1800's—but it moved a little slowly for my taste. (3 stars)

What I listened to on audiobook:

Heavy Weather by Normandie Fischer. I wasn't sure about this novel at first, which deals with domestic violence, infant loss, and new beginnings, but I ended up really enjoying it. (4 stars)

What I'm reading now:

Sweetbriar Cottage by Denise Hunter. This first book in Hunter's new series is about a divorced couple who turn out to be not so divorced. I'm really enjoying it so far.

The Girl Who Could See by Kara Swanson. Isn't that a gorgeous cover? The story is pretty intriguing, too :-)

What I'll read next:

Wings of the Wind by Connilyn Cossette. I should've reviewed this one last month. Oops!

I hope you've had a great reading week! I'd love to hear what you're reading now or your thoughts on any of these books. Let's chat in the comments!

  3. The Girl Who Could See sounds good. It's been a busy week with a cracked toilet, day camp, and paperwork for cross country. Come see what I'm reading

  8. I read Hillary's and Amy's recently too. Currently I'm read Jody Hedlund's latest, so now that I've read or am reading so many amazing books, I need to get to typing reviews! *looks at growing to-do list* ;)

    1. Love Jody's books! I didn't get a review copy of this new one, so it'll probably be years before I get to it, but I'm sure I'll love it when I do ;-) I know what you're saying on the reviews. I've been sitting at my computer for the last hour, trying to write my review of Sweetbriar Cottage, and I'm SOOOOOO distracted! I'm trying to work; really I am :-)
