It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (7-24-17)

Happy Monday! This is one of those Mondays when it feels like the weekend just wasn't long enough ... though that's just about every Monday, if I'm honest!

I had been going through a reading lull, only reading what I absolutely had to for review purposes, but over the past three days or so, all I've wanted to do is read. So that's a good sign! While I wasn't reading, I was pretty preoccupied by my free trial of UP Faith & Family. They have a lot of Hallmark-type movies, and I enjoyed most of the ones I watched. (I wrote about my free trial here.) I was also watching every single Cubs game, as I had a free two-week trial to MLB.tv. It spoiled me, for sure ... but I won't be continuing the subscription for two reasons: 1. It's WAY too expensive. 2. I felt compelled to watch/listen to every game, and who has time for that in a 162-game season?

Anyway, back to reading. It was really nice to take a break for a while, and now I'm ready to go again! Here's a look at what I've been reading lately:

What I read last week:

Grounded Hearts by Jeanne M. Dickson. I have mixed feelings about this book: I enjoyed the plot and setting, but I felt it was too sensual for a Christian novel. (3 stars)

Joyful Inspirations Coloring Book by Robin Mead. This is a great coloring book for people (like me) who get stressed out by coloring books. (4 stars)

On Love's Gentle Shore by Liz Johnson. This third book in Johnson's Prince Edward Island Dreams series is completely captivating and romantic. (5 stars)

By Your Side by Kasie West. Though the novel is uneven—the second half is much better than the first—I still enjoyed my first taste of West's writing, and I'm sure I'll be going back for more. (review and rating to come)

What I'm reading now:

A Name Unknown by Roseanna M. White. I've just barely started this Edwardian romance, but I'm enjoying it so far.

Unblemished by Sara Ella. I've heard so many great things about Ella's YA series, and I'm excited to finally be reading it! So far, it's really captivating.

What I'll read next:

High as the Heavens by Kate Breslin. I read many books set during World War II, but not many set during World War I, so I'm excited to dig into this one!

I hope you've had a great reading week! I'd love to hear what you're reading now, your thoughts on any of these books, or what entertainment besides reading you enjoy.

    1. I know nothing about Beartown ... except that it's written by the author of A Man Called Ove ... which I also know nothing about. But enjoy :-)
