It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (9-4-17)

After a long hiatus, I'm back! It's been a busy month, for sure, in which I didn't do much reading or blogging. (Only eight posts in the whole month of August!) If you want to see some of what I read in the intervening time, check out my Review Wrap-Up #2. I'm going to try to do those posts once a month ... we'll see how long I stick with it.

One of the reasons I haven't been reading and blogging as much, besides the start of school, is the Cubs. Yes, I'm still on the Cubs train. I finally broke down and purchased a subscription to the radio broadcasts of the games (which is much more affordable than purchasing the video feed) because I was getting tired of only being able to follow games through the app on my phone. The Cubs' playoff chances are looking good (they currently lead the NL Central by 3.5 games and are in good position for a wildcard if it comes to that), but I'm thinking they'd be lucky to get past the Nationals in the division series, and it would take something akin to a miracle to beat the Dodgers in the NLCS.

I read that last paragraph, and I hear my sister asking, yet again, "WHO ARE YOU???" It's pretty crazy to think that I've been a baseball fan for less than a year ... that I considered it to be the most boring sport on the planet. I guess people CAN change 😁.

Anyway, here's what I've been reading lately:

What I read last week:

Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum. I. Loved. This. Book. It was the most "unputdownable" book I've read in ages. (4-1/2 stars)

The Two of Us by Victoria Bylin. I have mixed emotions about this one—overall well-written, it also brought out memories/emotions I had a hard time reliving, due to some of the content. (4 stars)

God's Crime Scene for Kids by J. Warner Wallace & Susie Wallace. I really appreciate how the Wallaces are able to teach apologetics to kids through an engaging story. (5 stars)

Dating on the Dork Side by Charity Tahmaseb & Darcy Vance. The first two-thirds of this book is absolutely captivating. The last third isn't as strong, but it's still an enjoyable YA novel. (review & rating to come)

What I'm reading now:

Many Sparrows by Lori Benton. This is my first Lori Benton book, though I've heard a lot about her writing. It's my current lunch break book ... which means it will take me several weeks to finish it!

What I'll read next:

All This Time by Melissa Tagg. This is the final book in Tagg's Walker Family series (sob!), and it just arrived on my Kindle this weekend. Can't wait to dive in!

How has your reading week been? I'd love to know what you've been reading—and how your baseball team is doing (that is, if you have a baseball team!). Let me know in the comments!
