Top Ten Tuesday: New-To-Me Authors in 2017

While I'm still laboring over my Top Ten Books of 2017, I decided to take a break and knock out this week's Top Ten Tuesday, as it's a pretty easy one: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read in 2017. I read a lot of new-to-me authors in 2017, so here are the first ten to come to mind 😉.

The Elusive Miss Ellison (4 stars)

The Captivating Lady Charlotte (4-1/2 stars)

The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey (5 stars)

I read all three of Miller's Legacy of Grace books in 2017. While the first was a bit tough to get into, I ended up loving all three ... and it looks like one will probably make my Best of 2017 list!

Emery Lord

The Start of Me and You (5 stars)

I won Lord's The Start of Me and You in a giveaway, and I loved it so much! It was definitely my favorite contemporary YA read of the year, and I read some great ones ... as you'll see below 🙂.

Kasie West

By Your Side (3-1/2 stars)

The Distance Between Us (4 stars)

I've been hearing about West for a while now, but 2017 was when I finally snagged one of her books ... and I think we can safely say I'm addicted! She writes clean YA that's oh so swoony.

Julie Buxbaum

Tell Me Three Things (4-1/2 stars)

What to Say Next (4 stars)

Buxbaum's YA isn't as squeaky-clean as West's, but it's so, so enjoyable. (I'd rate the books at about a PG-13.) Tell Me Three Things is pure fun, while What to Say Next gave me a lot to think about. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more Buxbaum novels.

Jennifer Ryan

The Chilbury Ladies' Choir (5 stars)

Ryan's The Chilbury Ladies' Choir was one of my favorite reads of the year. This epistolary World War II novel is simply captivating.

Joanna Davidson Politano

Lady Jayne Disappears (5 stars)

Politano's debut, Lady Jayne Disappears, was one of the most intriguing books I read last year, and I can't wait to read her next novel.

Lori Benton

Many Sparrows (4-1/2 stars)

I've actually owned one of Benton's novels for a couple years, but my TBR pile is so huge that many non-review books simply never get read. This fall, I reviewed her Many Sparrows, and now I understand why people love her writing so much! I'm hoping to find time to read at least one of her other books in 2018.

Michelle Griep

The Captive Heart (4-1/2 stars)

Griep's The Captive Heart was one of my favorite romances of the year. I haven't read any of her other books yet, but I can't wait to!

Kara Isaac

Can't Help Falling (4-1/2 stars)

I wasn't familiar with Isaac prior to reading Can't Help Falling, but when main characters Peter and Emelia met in a wardrobe as she was looking for Narnia, I knew that Isaac was an author I'd love. I've already bought copies of her two other books, and I can't wait to read them!

Catherine Marshall

Christy (5 stars)

Though I've known about Catherine Marshall forever, I'd never read Christy until this year!
