First Line Fridays: "Sons of Blackbird Mountain"

Happy Friday! For those of us in the US, this is our second Tuesday/second Friday of the week, thanks to Independence Day on Wednesday. Needless to say, I've been confused about what day it is all week long.

In addition to the 4th of July, I also celebrated six years with my cats this week. Isis joined me on July 3, 2012, when my dad rescued her from work, and Hammond and Skaara arrived from my aunt and uncle's house the next day. Somehow, they survived a year of being outdoor cats, and then almost five years ago I bought my house and they became house cats. Though I do think Isis misses hunting (she was quite the little huntress), they've adapted well to the cushy life of a house cat 😉.

Now to the books! Today, I'm sharing the first line of my current read, Joanne Bischof's Sons of Blackbird Mountain.

"Aven peered down at the letter again, noted the address written in Aunt Dorothe's hand, then looked back to the wooden sign that was staked into the ground."

I absolutely adored Bischof's The Lady and the Lionheart (I mean, who didn't?), so I've been looking forward to this one! My review will be up on Sunday ... which means I really need to get reading!
