Follow Me on Instagram!

Practically ever since I joined Instagram nearly five years ago, I've been a big fan. My account was basically personal stuff—family, cats, vacations, etc. But every so often, I would post something blog-related—a bookstagram photo here, a review post there.

Each time I posted something promoting a book or a movie or something else I was reviewing, I felt a little odd about it—like it didn't quite fit with my personal account. But I also didn't want to start over from scratch with a blog account; as of last Friday, I had 348 followers on my personal account, which isn't a large number, but it's a whole lot bigger than zero.

Then what I like to call "The Instagram Debacle" happened. Long story short, someone created a fake account in my name and copied my last 24 photos into that account. I tried to report it, but Instagram requires ID proof that the person reporting his/her impersonator really is legitimate, and Instagram's reporting form refused to upload my picture. On Saturday, Instagram decided that the fake account was real, and I was the impersonator ... and they deactivated my account for impersonation without warning. Since then, I've been fighting to get my account reactivated, but so far, I haven't had any luck. At least on Monday they finally shut down the impersonation account. So that's something ...

From everything I've been able to find on the internet, Instagram sometimes reactivates accounts within days, sometimes within months, and sometimes never. So it could be that I never regain access to my account, which makes me very thankful for my Chatbooks subscription! (All but the most recent six photos have already been printed.)

Anyway, while I'm very frustrated with Instagram's severe lack of customer service, I decided to let this be the push I needed to create an Instagram account for my blog (instagram.com/cctblog). Lemonade out of lemons and all that. So I am starting from scratch with followers, and my current three lonely posts look pretty sad. But I'm also excited—anything book or movie or blog related will fit a lot better here than it did on my personal Instagram.

As I start off, I'm planning to do a story series on the Christmas movies I watch (something that will look familiar to those of you who followed my personal account), and I'm hoping to build my bookstagram skills and participate in some challenges.

So, if you're interested, give me a follow! After all, I'm super popular with 13 followers 🤣

(I just realized that I should promote my Facebook page, too. So follow me on Facebook if you're so inclined!)
