Review: "Bookishly Ever After" by Sarah Monzon

So ... I read this book in June and wrote the review then, but I never actually hit "publish." Oops!!!

Emory Blake is the ultimate bibliophile. She’d take curling up with a good novel over a night on the town any day of the week. But then best friend Tate Woodby accuses her of living between the pages of her paperbacks instead of the real world, and make a bet that will force her to experience the adventures of her fictional friends…instead of just reading about them. With her face no longer buried in books, Emory must confront the pain of the past. But is it also her perfect opportunity to discover the hunky hero who could be the happily-ever-after of her own story?

Best friends Emory & Tate make a bet: if she will get her nose out of her book and go on adventures with him and his friends, he'll send out demo tapes of his music. Though social interaction is difficult for highly introverted Emory, it will be worth it if Tate can finally get the recognition he deserves for his music. What Emory doesn't anticipate, though, are the complicated feelings her adventures with Tate bring up, especially when his friend shows interest in her.

I've read a Sarah Monzon book before, and I liked it fine, but this is next-level. The chemistry between Emory and Tate practically leaps off the page! I devoured this novella—easily one of the best I've read in a long time. 5 stars.

Buy the novella (or borrow on KU).
Read my reviews of Novelly Upon a Time (4 stars) and All of You (3-1/2 stars).

Sarah Monzon is a Navy chaplain's wife and a stay at home mom to the two cutest littles in the world. Playing pretend all day with them isn't enough, she spends the evenings after their heads hit the pillow to create her own imaginary characters. When she isn't in the world of make believe, she can be found in the pine forests of western Washington taking care of her family, fostering friendships, and enjoying all the adventures each day brings.

Her debut novel,
The Isaac Project, skyrocketed to Amazon bestseller status while her sophomore book, Finders Keepers, won the 2017 SELAH award for contemporary romance.
