Top Ten Tuesday: New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2018

Happy Tuesday! This week's topic is Authors I Read for the First Time in 2018 ... and there were a lot of them! I'm focusing on the ones whose books I enjoyed ... because I also discovered some new authors I didn't like, but there's no need to rehash that here 😉

Many of these authors are independently publishing their work—something I used to turn up my nose at, but I'm discovering that many indie writers are very talented! (However, there's plenty of drivel out there; Kindle Unlimited is a great way to wade through and find the gems, as you can stop reading a book without feeling guilty about paying for it!)

Clicking on a book title will take you to its Amazon page (this is an affiliate link), and clicking on the star rating will take you to my review.

Judy Corry

Corry is probably my favorite "find" of the year. I read *checks Goodreads* six of Corry's books last year. Once I found her stuff, I couldn't quit reading it! Corry writes clean YA and adult romance, and it's both swoony and fun.

Shari L. Tapscott

I discovered Tapscott at the beginning of 2018. I didn't love all of her books, but the ones I loved, I loved.

Jenny Han

After having it on my shelf for more than a year, I finally read To All the Boys I've Loved Before ... and I really, really liked it. I also read the sequel, P.S. I Still Love You. I have yet to read Always and Forever, Lara Jean because (don't come at me) I am not a Peter Kavinsky fan. #TeamJohnAmbrose Don't get me wrong, I loved Noah Centineo's take on Peter for the TATBILB movie, but book Peter? Not a fan.

Sara Ella

I finally read Ella's Unblemished trilogy in 2018. It was so good!

Courtney Walsh

I've heard about Walsh for years—even purchased a couple of her books—but I didn't read anything she'd written until I got Just Let Go for review. I loved it!

Mesu Andrews

There are some authors writing great fiction set in Bible times right now, and I was so happy to discover another in the form of Mesu Andrews! Isaiah's Daughter just narrowly missed my 2018 Top Ten List—it was fantastic!

Susan Sleeman

Sleeman is the first of two suspense writers on the list. Sometimes I like suspense, and sometimes I don't, but I really enjoyed Kill Shot!

Carrie Stuart Parks

Formula of Deception is a psychological thriller that had me completely engaged while I was reading, but I had a lot of questions as I thought about it later. Still, it made me want more of Carrie Stuart Parks' writing!

Jenny Hale

Honestly, the jury's still out on Jenny Hale. I loved Coming Home for Christmas, but I wasn't a big fan of It Started with Christmas. Still, I'd be willing to read another of her books.

Patti Callahan

I'm going to count this because I started reading Becoming Mrs. Lewis before the new year—I just didn't finish it until a couple days into January!

Have you read any books by these authors? And who did you discover in 2018? Let me know in the comments!
