Review: "Royally Yours" by Melissa Tagg, Betsy St. Amant, Liz Johnson, and Ashley Clark

Christmas novellas from some of my favorite authors? Yes, please! The instant I heard about Royally Yours, I knew I needed to get my hands on the collection. And guess what? It's really, really good!

All of these stories take place in Tinsel, Vermont, a town that serves as a hideaway for many a famous person, as the paparazzi isn't allowed within city limits. (Side note: I would love to know more about Mayor Hayden's backstory!)

You know how the Hallmark Channel is starting to do anthology movies (like the Christmas in Evergreen films)? These stories would be perfect for something like that! Each story is sweet and romantic, and, while each author has her own style, the stories feel like they fit together. I loved the experience of reading these novellas--you could say that they gave me all the feels 😄. I'd rate all of them between 4 and 5 stars; basically, you can't go wrong with this book! 4-1/2 stars.

Keep reading to see my thoughts on each story:

One Royal Christmas by Melissa Tagg

This novella is so cute! It's classic Melissa Tagg—endearing characters, quirky small town, and sweet romance. This may not be set in Maple Valley like many of Tagg's other books, but the feeling it evokes is the same.

Other things I loved:
  • The You've Got Mail conversation—any mention of that gem is fine by me! "I'm not Joe Fox!" 😂
  • Jonah 😍😍😍
5 stars.

The Reluctant Princess by Betsy St. Amant

This one gave me all the feels! While I didn't ever get a really great sense of why Eleanor was in Tinsel, in the end, it didn't matter, as the story was just so cute! And yes, I cried at the end. 4-1/2 stars.

A Royal Wonderland by Liz Johnson

Charlie and Andrew are super cute together, and I loved that she didn't know who he was at first, especially since everyone else did recognize him! This story was humorous, romantic, and oh so enjoyable. 5 stars.

A Tinsel Holiday by Ashley Clark

This is a really cute story! While I didn't care for the love story as much as I did in the other novellas, there was more intrigue to this one, which I appreciated. I think part of it is I just didn't connect as well with this author's writing style and questioned some word choices—but I've learned over the years that my preferences are just that: preferences. So others may adore this novella—and I really did enjoy it! 4 stars.
