Anytime Susan May Warren releases a new book, my reaction is "yes, please!" It's a no-brainer! And since she's such a prolific writer, it feels like I constantly have a new book of hers to read ... and I'm certainly not complaining about that 😀.

Oh, boy, do I ever have mixed feelings about this one! I absolutely loved parts of it—especially the beginning and end, which center around presidential candidate Isaac White's campaign. (His name will be familiar to those who read the Montana Marshalls books.) I also enjoyed both romances—the main romance between Jenny and Orion and the secondary one between Jenny's friend Aria and Orion's teammate Jake. What I didn't care for? The mountain climbing. I just found all of the description to be boring, and I didn't feel my interest kick in until Orion's team found Jenny and her friends. Even then, the time on the mountain was still long. Basically, I loved the first and last quarters of the book and would have preferred the middle part to be about half of its length.
However, a Susan May Warren book that I don't love is still a pretty good book. And the preview for the next book completely hooked me, so I'll definitely keep reading the series! 3-1/2 stars.
Note: You can read and enjoy this novel without having read the Montana Marshalls series, but having knowledge of that series, which runs concurrently to this one, will certainly heighten your appreciation of the book. Also, longtime Susan May Warren readers will appreciate references to characters from the Christiansen Family, Montana Rescue, and Montana Marshalls series (and maybe others that I didn't catch).
