Review: "Seven Words of Christmas" by Robert Morris

It may seem a tad early for Christmas books, but Seven Words of Christmas just released, and telling you about it now will give you time to get your copy in time to use during Advent!

Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas through the seven words God spoke to seven different people around the time of Christ's birth, bringing hope and change to our world for eternity.

In Seven Words of Christmas, bestselling author and pastor Robert Morris explains each word of prophecy: an inspired utterance of a prophet, the words of God through man. He illustrates the story of Jesus surrounding the word, and applies the prophecy to our modern lives. Find the words of:

  • Salvation through Zacharias,
  • Favor through Mary,
  • Blessing through Elizabeth,
  • Guidance through Joseph,
  • Joy through the Shepherds,
  • Redemption through Anna, and
  • Peace through Simeon.

Even now, thousands of years later, the eternal Word of God has numerous applications to modern life. This Christmas, discover salvation, blessings, peace, and more with Pastor Morris.

Seven Words of Christmas is a small, easy-to-read-and-digest book that is perfect for use during Advent. In the book, Pastor Robert Morris goes through seven words of prophecy spoken around the time of Jesus' birth. Each word is broken up into three days' readings, and each reading takes maybe five minutes to complete - making this perfect for use as a devotional in the three weeks leading up to Christmas. But if you don't want to use it that way, you can also just read through it - it would only take an hour or two to read the whole thing.

Because this is a coffee table/gift-style book, I need to mention that it's really pretty! I love the way the pages are laid out and the touches of color. The one thing that isn't great is the divider pages. They look really pretty, but the font used for the Bible verse that goes with each word is printed in a very light font that's a little difficult to read, just because it's so light, printed on a darker (colored) background.

This is a book that I would definitely recommend as we head into the Christmas season - it will help cut through the hustle and bustle (although it might not be as crazy as normal this year!) and get your heart focused back on the true meaning of Christmas. 4 stars.
