"P.S. I Like You" by Kasie West

I've been having some serious bad luck with YA novels recently—two 1-1/2 star books in a row—so, as a palate cleanser, I turned to my old standby, Kasie West. She didn't let me down!

Signed, sealed, delivered... 

While spacing out in Chemistry class, Lily scribbles some of her favorite song lyrics onto her desk. The next day, she finds that someone has continued the lyrics on the desk, and added a message to her. Intrigue! 

Soon, Lily and her anonymous pen pal are exchanging full-on letters -- sharing secrets, recommending bands, and opening up to each other. Lily realizes she's kind of falling for this letter writer. Only who is he? As Lily attempts to unravel the mystery, and juggle school, friends, crushes, and her crazy family, she discovers that matters of the heart can't always be spelled out... 

Kasie West brings irresistible wit, warmth, and sparkle to this swoon-worthy story of love showing up when you least expect it.

Is P.S. I Like You predictable? Is it obvious almost immediately who Lily is corresponding with? Yes and yes. However, I did not care. This book is just so darn cute that it didn't matter!

P.S. I Like You has that You've Got Mail vibe that so rarely goes wrong (but when it does go wrong, boy does it ever!) ... it's just adorable! Lily begins corresponding with a mystery student who sits in her seat during another Chemistry period. She has no idea who this student could be, but she's soon looking forward to Chemistry, just so she can find another letter.

Not only is Lily corresponding with a mystery pen pal, but she also has three very different boys to deal with: Lucas, the boy she's crushed on from afar for the past two years; David, the blind date that might turn into something more; and Cade, her best friend's ex who brings out the worst in her.

I don't want to go much into the romance, as that would give away the identity of the letter writer, so just let me say that the romance is so cute and fun! Plus, Lily's big, crazy family is absolutely delightful, and her relationship with her best friend is an example of a great female friendship.

I loved every second I spent reading this novel! So thank you, Kasie West, for reminding me that engaging, romantic, clean YA fiction still exists. 5 stars.

Content note: There is absolutely nothing objectionable in this novel! No sex, no drinking, no foul language. I just feel I have to add this note because so much YA does have objectionable content, and I want you to know that you (and your teen loved ones) are safe to read this one.
