Robin Lee Hatcher has long been one of those romance writers whose books I enjoy reading when I get the chance. Her books are romantic and engaging, but they generally haven't been "unputdownable" for me. That all changed with You're Gonna Love Me, a book that I read in just a couple hours as I was so completely immersed in the story!

After watching her father die in a tragic skiing accident, she decided never to allow risk into her life again. When Sam returns to Thunder Creek to care for her grandmother, the last person she expects to find is her ex-boyfriend Nick. Even more surprising, though, are the changes in Nick. He's kind, considerate of others, and has a growing relationship with Christ.
Following a traumatic brain injury, Nick isn't the man he once was. Not only has his second chance at life given him a new appreciation for others and reliance on his faith, but it's also left him with some mental difficulties. He never dreamed that Sam would come back into his life, but when she does, he struggles with whether it would be fair to her to ask her to share his life.
Sam and Nick are both compelling characters the reader can't help but root for. Their romance is both sweet and heartbreaking by turn, and the obstacles to their "happily ever after," while mostly internal conflict, struck me as incredibly believable.
Wrapped up in this engaging love story is a powerful message of trusting God and not being afraid. Sam has been ruled by her fear ever since her father's accidental death, and nearly every decision in her adult life has come from a desire for safety. Nick's fear is not for physical safety but a fear that his injury would leave him incapable of being a good husband and father. Throughout the story, both characters take steps forward and backward when it comes to trusting God in a way that feels authentic.
You're Gonna Love Me is the second Robin Lee Hatcher book to be set in Thunder Creek, and I hope it won't be the last! Full of romance, engaging characters, and a compelling plot, You're Gonna Love Me is a book romance readers will love. 5 stars.
