It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (8-6-18)

Happy Monday! I'm writing from the basement of my parents' house, as we're currently in a tornado warning. When that happens, I load up my cats and come on over—I don't have a basement. The cats don't particularly enjoy being brought over, but it makes me feel better 😉.

Yesterday, my mom, sisters, and I got back from a whirlwind trip to Oklahoma and Kansas. We went to Pawhuska, home of the Pioneer Woman, for Mom's (belated) birthday. Then we visited family and friends in Kansas before returning home. It was such fun!

At The Lodge, where Ree films her show.
Dinner at the Pioneer Woman Mercantile. The portions were enormous.
Mom with her uncle, my grandma's brother. We hadn't been out to his farm for several years.
Thanks to hours and hours in the car, I got quite a bit of reading done! (I've always really loved reading in the car—I'm so thankful I don't get carsick!)

What I read last week:

Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan. I FINALLY FINISHED THIS BOOK!!! It actually ended up being really good; it just took forever for me to get into it. (4 stars)

P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han. I read this book on our trip. It's really good, though I didn't like it quite as much as To All the Boys I've Loved Before... probably because I'm #TeamJohn, which is apparently not the popular team to be on. (4 stars, review to come)

According to Jane by Danielle Thorne. The subtitle for this one is "a very short romantic read" ... and it's half right. This story is very short—like, read it in five minutes short. I would also say it's short on the romance, and it left me with more questions than answers. (2 stars)

What I'm reading now:

Unbreakable by Sara Ella. This is my current lunch break read, but I doubt that will last very long, as it's so hard for me to put it down after 30 minutes! I'll probably start reading it in the evenings, too, because I'm dying to see how everything turns out. (Also, can I just say how incredibly #TeamKy I am and how much I want to punch Joshua in the face?!?)

What I'll read next:

I picked up Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han when we stopped at Target on our trip last weekend. I have it on hold at the library, but I'm way down the list. It was kind of an impulse purchase, but I don't regret it. And I'm very curious about how Lara Jean's story will continue, as the end of P.S. I Still Love You really felt like it could be the end of the story.

  1. Still have to read the rest of Jenny's books. Hoping the film doesn't go past book one. ;)

Currently reading Sons of Blackbird Mountain.

    1. I'm hoping it won't, too--because I'd like to get three movies out of the deal! I'll look forward to your review of Sons :-)

  2. I still need to read Always and Forever, Lara Jean, and I'm curious, too. I'm hoping it's good, but I liked where P.S. I Still Love You ended because #TeamPeter, haha...

    1. My sister and I just had ... well, almost an argument about Peter and John. I mean, I knew that John wasn't going to be the one, but I really wanted him to be!
