It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (9-10-18)

Happy Monday! Well, it may be a happy Monday ... we'll know in about an hour. September baseball is not for the feint of heart, that's for sure! The Cubs bullpen is a hot mess right now, and I cringe every time certain pitchers take the mound. (Perhaps this is early panicking on my part—after all the Cubs still hold the best record in the National League. But those pesky Brewers are right on their tails ...) Anyway, on to the books, shall we?

What I read last week:

A Daring Venture by Elizabeth Camden. I finally finished this one! While I didn't enjoy it as much as its predecessor, it was still a solid read. (3-1/2 stars)

Hidden Among the Stars by Melanie Dobson. This is gripping World War II fiction that also contains a serviceable contemporary plot. Can you guess which plot thread I enjoyed more? 😆 (4 stars)

Formula of Deception by Carrie Stuart Parks. I really enjoyed this psychological thriller ... except when I didn't. It is absolutely, 100%, without a doubt an incredibly gripping novel, but the more I think about it after the fact, the more questions I have. (3-1/2 stars, review to come)

What I'm reading now:

Can you believe that the only book I have in process right now is an audiobook? I'll fix that during tomorrow's lunch break 🙂. I've been listening to Annie F. Downs' soon-to-be-released Remember God. If you preorder the book now, you can enter your receipt info at Annie's website, and you'll get the audiobook free.

What I'll read next:

Lies We Tell Ourselves by Amy Matayo. This book releases next week, and I am so excited about it! I love Matayo's novels, and this one sounds wonderful.

Are you a baseball fan? How's your team doing? And what are you reading? Let me know, and then go check out the linkup to see what others are reading.

  1. CANNOT wait to snag a copy of Amy's new novel; hoping it comes in paperback, too. :)

I'm SO far behind on reading Camden novels, but I do enjoy them. Currently I'm reading Wildcard by Marie Lu, and a Blink YA book that I've had a copy of. Happy Monday!!

    1. I haven't heard of Marie Lu, but I'm always on the lookout for good YA :-) I'm almost finished with Amy's now, and it's so good ... which is to be expected!

    1. I know that feeling! It's kind of freeing, actually, as that means I don't have a required review breathing down my neck :-) I hope you've enjoyed whatever you settled on!
