Top Ten Tuesday: Hidden Gems on My Bookshelf

Happy Tuesday! If you read my It's Monday! post yesterday, you know that I wasn't sure if Monday would truly be happy ... from a baseball point of view. And it wasn't. The Cubs and Brewers are at it again tonight, and I'm hoping for a much better outcome!

Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is "Hidden Gems," and I'm taking this topic and making it my own. So today I'm highlighting ten books I pulled from my bookshelf that should be really good, but I haven't read them yet! But I'll tell you why I think I'd like them 😃. All the books are several years old, and I only remember one of them being heavily promoted when it released (which is why I bought it), but I haven't heard anything about it in a long time.

Matched by Ally Condie

This is the book that was pretty hyped when it released ... eight years ago. And it's sat on my shelf for those eight years. It was initially marketed as being for fans of The Hunger Games, and I was a huge fan of that series.

The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg

I fell in love with Eulberg's Prom & Prejudice years ago and rushed out to buy her debut. I've since read Eulberg's Better off Friends, and I really liked that one, too.

The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn by Lori Benton

I bought this book just last year (I think it's my most recent acquisition on the list) because I learned that a character from Benton's Many Sparrows (which I loved) appears in it.

Close to You by Kara Isaac

Isaac wasn't on my radar at all until I read Can't Help Falling for the INSPY awards last year. It was so charming that I hopped on Amazon and bought Close to You before I was even finished with the book.

My Reality by Melissa Rycroft

It's a Bachelor book. Need I say more?

The Christmas Shoes by Donna VanLiere

I loved the movie. I loved the song (the first two dozen times I heard it ...). Maybe this Christmas season I'll finally get to the book!

The Nine Lives of Christmas by Sheila Roberts

The Nine Lives of Christmas the movie is easily in my top five Hallmark Christmas movies of all time. I really need to read this book so that I can write a "Book or Movie" post about it!

Nightingale by Susan May Warren

I know Susan May Warren more for her contemporary romances, but she's written some great historicals, as well. I bought this just as my book blogging was starting to take off, and I just never got to this one.

A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin

I'm pretty sure this is Sundin's debut novel. I started reading her books with Blue Skies Tomorrow (which was my favorite book of 2011), and I never looked back. But I need to ... because I still need to read this one!

The Rivers Run Dry by Sibella Giorello

I've been completely charmed by Giorello's Raleigh Harmon series, but I came into it with book four. So I have some catching up to do!

What hidden gems do you want people to know about? Have you read any of mine? Let me know!

  1. The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn is a FAVORITE!!!! I love, love it. I reread it after reading Many Sparrows (after I realized the connection!), and I think I appreciate it even more knowing the beginning of some of the characters. I hope you get to read it soon!

    1. Glad to hear you loved it, Courtney! I'll be honest--I forgot I owned it until I was looking for books to include in this post. But now that it's been brought back to mind, I think I do need to get to it!
