I have loved (loved, loved!) Rachel Hauck's Royal Wedding series. I thought it was finished after the third book,
How to Catch a Prince, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Hauck had written a new Christmas novella,
A Royal Christmas Wedding, that serves as the fourth book in the series
.
Avery Truitt aches for true love—the kind she once shared with Prince Colin. Can she dare to hope for happily ever after, or is a fairy-tale ending beyond reach?
College volleyball star Avery Truitt has not seen her former flame, Prince Colin of Brighton Kingdom, since he suddenly pushed her away five years ago. But now, the sadness of losing her father and the joy of her sister Susanna’s pregnancy have brought Avery back to Brighton just in time for Cathedral City’s enchanting Christmas season.
Avery knows she can’t avoid seeing Colin—now the Kingdom’s most eligible bachelor—whether or not her heart is ready to relive the pain. But seeing him again might bring her the closure she needs after all this time.
When Colin finds himself at the center of a centuries-old Brighton tradition, he must decide whether to follow the path laid out before him or follow his heart to the only woman for whom he would ring the Pembroke Chapel Bell.
Can Colin convince Avery to meet him at the chapel on Christmas morning—as tradition dictates—or will Avery run back to her St. Simons home and pursue a coaching career as planned?
In the fourth installment of the Royal Wedding Series, New York Times bestselling novelist, Rachel Hauck, weaves a charming story of holiday romance as two broken hearts seek the love they once knew.
Oh my goodness. I'd forgotten just how delightful the books in the Royal Wedding series are! They're like fairy tales grounded in reality.
A Royal Christmas Wedding, which tells the story of Avery Truitt (sister of Susanna from
Once Upon a Prince and
A March Bride) and Prince Colin of Brighton,
captivated me from the very first page.
This is a tale of love lost and found, and I enjoyed watching Colin and Avery work their way back to one another. The two have a palpable chemistry, and all of their interactions practically crackle with electricity.
Hauck likes to incorporate a touch of the supernatural into her books, and
A Royal Christmas Wedding is no exception. In this case, God very clearly makes something happen that is a catalyst for everything else in the book. I love that touch—that acknowledgement that God is clearly behind Avery and Colin's relationship.
While I loved Avery and Colin's love story, my absolute favorite part of this novella is the epilogue, which so beautifully wraps up the stories from this series. It made me sigh happily and tear up a little! While I'd welcome another Royal Wedding story, if this is truly the end of Hauck's series, I'm satisfied ... and I'm ready to go back and read the whole series again!
5 stars.
Note: While this book is part of a series, each of the Royal Wedding novels can stand alone. So don't let the fact that this is book four in the series keep you from reading it!
Buy the book.
Read my reviews of the other Royal Wedding novels Once Upon a Prince (5 stars), Princess Ever After (5 stars), and How to Catch a Prince (5 stars) and the Royal Wedding novella (part of Zondervan's Year of Weddings) A March Bride (4 stars).
