It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (10-22-18)

Happy Monday! I wasn't so sure at the beginning of the day if it would be a happy Monday. Remember that cracked tooth I talked about a few weeks ago? Well, it broke/chipped on Friday. So I went to my dentist this morning with visions of dollar signs in my head, fearful that I'd need a crown. He took one look and said he could fix it with a filling. Just over $100, as opposed to upwards of $1,000? I'll take the filling, thank you very much! I'm such a fan of my dentist! (Dr. Maas in Fullerton, for any of you locals.)

Now that baseball is over (at least for me—I really don't care who wins the World Series; I'm just happy the Brewers didn't make it there), I have more reading time in the evening, although I'm not doing a very good job of reading what I'm supposed to be reviewing!

What I read last week:

A Shoe Addict's Christmas by Beth Harbison. I read this in preparation for the Hallmark Channel movie of the same name that's airing during Countdown to Christmas. (Also ... Countdown to Christmas starts this weekend. How is that possible?) (3-1/2 stars)

Enchanting Nicholette by Dawn Crandall. If you haven't read Crandall's Everstone Chronicles, you're missing out! This novella is the fifth installment in the series, and it's so good. (4-1/2 stars)

#Starstruck by Sariah Wilson. This is a classic example of "don't judge a book by its cover." The cover doesn't scream clean to me, but it is! #Starstruck is such fun—and it's so engaging that I read it in one evening! (4 stars; review to come)

What I'm reading now:

The Second Sister by Marie Bostwick. This book is the basis for the upcoming Hallmark movie Christmas Everlasting. I can already tell that a lot of changes will be made for the movie, but I am loving this book!

Shelter of the Most High by Connilyn Cosette. Yup, I'm still plugging away on this one! It's really good; I just keep picking up other books instead!

What I'll read next:

Your guess is as good as mine!

How was your Monday? If you care about the World Series, Dodgers or Red Sox? And how was your reading week? Let's chat about it in the comments, and then head over to the linkup to see what others are reading.

  1. Hope you enjoy all of these, Becky! I'm working through a couple of the Geek Girl books, which are so much fun. :)

    1. I'd never heard of the Geek Girl series before, but I've just looked them up on Goodreads, and now I must get my hands on them. Thanks for the recommendation, Rissi :-)
