First Line Fridays: "A Worthy Rebel"

Hallelujah, it's Friday! And Monday is Labor Day for those of us in the States, so it's a three-day weekend! Considering I just was on vacation last week (to San Francisco—see more here), I probably shouldn't be quite so excited, but I'm thrilled to have Monday off!

I'm hoping to make great progress painting my parents' kitchen cabinets ... a project my mom and I have been working on (and off and on) since April. And the first Husker football game of the season is on Saturday! Plus, there's always baseball (Go Cubs Go!). I'm also hoping to get some reading done.

Review: "A Worthy Rebel" by Jody Hedlund

I realize I'm like a broken record when it comes to Jody Hedlund's medieval YA romances, but it's true: THIS is the type of book our teens should be reading!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (8-27-18)

Happy Monday! This blog was absolutely silent over the last week ... because I was on vacation! My college roommate Jodi and her husband invited me along on a trip to San Francisco. We were only there for two full days (three nights), but it was so fun!

Going into the trip, there was only one thing I absolutely "had" to do (besides reconnecting with Jodi): find the Full House house! Turns out, it was just a couple blocks from our Airbnb.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (8-20-18)

Happy Monday! It almost feels like I should be wishing you a Happy Fall, too ... it's 66°, cloudy, and windy, and it certainly feels like fall. (Crazy—in a few months, 66° will feel like a heat wave!)

School started last Tuesday, which made for a crazy week, and I hardly read a thing. I should have lots of reading opportunities over the next few days, so hopefully my list will be longer next week!

Review: "A Rumored Fortune" by Joanna Davidson Politano

Last fall, I read Joanna Davidson Politano's debut novel, Lady Jayne Disappears. I loved it so much that it made my yearly top ten list. So it was with great anticipation that I picked up her sophomore novel, A Rumored Fortune.

First Line Fridays: "A Rumored Fortune"

Happy Friday! We've made it through the first week of school! (Well, almost. I have to go back to school at 8:30 for a Student Council event—I'm the sponsor, and we're showing a movie outdoors after the sports scrimmages.)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (8-13-18)

Happy Monday! It's been a week ... I'm recovering from a summer cold that started coming on Tuesday night and got progressively worse through Friday. I'm getting better, but I still have really low energy ... which isn't good, considering school starts tomorrow!

Review: "Better Off Friends" by Elizabeth Eulberg

Once upon a time, I read Elizabeth Eulberg's Prom & Prejudice. I LOVED IT. I bought Better off Friends when it was on sale at some point, but then I forgot about it. This week, I've had a horrible summer cold (aren't colds even worse when you get them in the summer?), and my cold-addled brain couldn't take anything deep or serious, so I went scrolling through my Kindle and came across Better off Friends. It was exactly what I needed!

Review: "Unbreakable" by Sara Ella

I finally found time to dig into Unbreakable, the final book in Sara Ella's Unblemished trilogy. What a wild ride!

First Line Fridays: "Unbreakable"

Happy Friday! I missed last week's FLF because of a road trip to Pawhuska, Oklahoma, home of The Pioneer Woman! My sisters and I took our mom as a belated birthday gift, and it was such fun! (You can see more about it here.)

Review: "Alto Secrets" by Victoria Kimble

A few weeks ago, my cousin Alexis read Victoria Kimble's Soprano Trouble. She loved it, so I gave her the next book in the series. She's back today with her review!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (8-6-18)

Happy Monday! I'm writing from the basement of my parents' house, as we're currently in a tornado warning. When that happens, I load up my cats and come on over—I don't have a basement. The cats don't particularly enjoy being brought over, but it makes me feel better 😉.

Yesterday, my mom, sisters, and I got back from a whirlwind trip to Oklahoma and Kansas. We went to Pawhuska, home of the Pioneer Woman, for Mom's (belated) birthday. Then we visited family and friends in Kansas before returning home. It was such fun!

Review: "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" by Jenny Han

About a year ago, I got a happy surprise package in the mail. It contained To All the Boys I've Loved Before ... and nothing else. Turns out, it was from my sister Val, who said I needed to read the book. Now, finally, I have.

Review: "Lone Witness" by Rachel Dylan

After hearing wonderful things about Deadly Proof, the first book in Rachel Dylan's Atlanta Justice series, I decided to pick up Lone Witness upon its release. I used to love reading legal thrillers (à la John Grisham), so it was nice to get back into the genre.

Review: "Miss Serena's Secret" by Carolyn Miller

Whenever I hear that Carolyn Miller has a new book releasing, I add it to my TBR. She has swiftly become one of my favorite writers of regency romance!
