First Line Fridays: "Hidden Among the Stars"

Happy Friday! Why do holiday weeks feel so much longer than other weeks? I didn't have to work on Monday ... and Tuesday through Thursday felt interminably long. So I'm thrilled to be approaching the weekend!

This week, I'm spotlighting my current read, Melanie Dobson's Hidden Among the Stars. This is a split-time novel set in Nazi-occupied Austria and present day America.

Lake Hallstatt, Austria
March 1938

The blade of a shovel, cutting through frosted grass. That's what she remembered most from the spring of 1938.

I'm about 25% into the book right now, and it's quite enjoyable! Look for my review tomorrow.

Check out the book on Amazon & Goodreads.

  1. Happy Friday! My first line is from How to Make Victoria Sponge by Margaret Kazmierczak.

“Monday, six-fifteen in the morning and the alarm wakes me up for a new day.”

    1. I've heard lots of good things about that book! Thanks for stopping by :-)

  2. I’m featuring Michelle Griep’s new novella, A Tale of Two Hearts, on my blog today. Here is the second line:

“Closing her eyes, she savored the warmth and the first line to a new adventure, as was her wont whenever Miss Whymsy stopped by and lent her a book."

    Happy Friday!

    1. I'll be reading that book in a couple weeks--can't wait to get to it!

  3. LOVED this book! I shared my review for it today as part of a tour :)
The Book I'm sharing on my blog this week is A Love Restored by Kelly Goshorn but I'm currently reading The Abolitionist's Daughter by Kathleen Maher so I'll share the first line of that here: "The wrong ideas could get a head--and a body--into a heap of trouble." Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of quality reading time! :)

    1. Thanks! I haven't read either of the books you mention, but that first line sounds interesting!

  4. Happy Friday!😎

My first lines come from a book I’m reading next, In Her Bones by Kate Moretti.

Your life is more open than you think. You think you’re safe. You have neighborhood watches and room -darkening drapes, password-protected computers, alarm systems, and garage codes that are absolutely not your firstborn’s birthday.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!😊💕

    1. Sounds like it might be a bit too creepy for me, Susan, but I hope you enjoy it!
