Review: "Then Again, Maybe" by Susan L. Tuttle

One of my favorite reads of 2019 was Susan L. Tuttle's At First Glance. When I heard she had written a sequel, I had to get my hands on it! So I'm very happy to welcome you to my stop on the Blog + Review Tour for Then Again, Maybe, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

Former beauty queen Belle Thornton knows what it is to think she has it all, only to discover she never valued what was truly important. Raising her daughter and building a thriving thrift shop that helps single mothers like herself has taught Belle what the word beautiful really means. Unfortunately, thanks to her shady landlord, Belle must toss those hard-earned dollars into the money-pit of a rental that houses both her tiny apartment and her business or risk the city closing her doors. When funds dwindle as quickly as her to-do list grows, she is forced to rely on the absolute last rescuer she’d choose: Micah Shaw.

Leaving Belle at the altar, pregnant, was the worst choice Micah ever made. He returns home, hoping to reconcile with Belle and their toddler. While balancing his medical residency with caring for his ailing mother, he strives to win Belle’s heart again and ensure her business remains open. Helping with that is the easy part. Chiseling through the rock encompassing Belle's heart is more of a challenge, but one he’s determined to conquer.

If only he could get her to realize that a new lease on love may be their best collaboration of all.

Title:
Then Again, Maybe
Series: Along Came Love
Author: Susan L. Tuttle
Publisher: BLING! Romance
Release Date: November 17, 2020
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Even though I wanted to read Then Again, Maybe, I started the book with a little skepticism, simply because I highly disliked Belle and completely loathed Micah in the first book in the series. Author Susan L. Tuttle had some major redemptive work to do in the two of them ... and she did!

Three years after Micah left her pregnant at the altar, Belle has a beautiful daughter and a struggling business that brings purpose to her life. Then Micah shows up, repentant and sober, and her world is turned upside down. Belle is hesitant to let Micah back in, yet she knows he deserves access to his daughter ... and she soon sees that he is not the man who left her; he's a changed man who wants a second chance.

Wow, this is an excellent book! I absolutely loved Micah and the way he steadily yet gently pursued Belle. And I really enjoyed watching Micah, Belle, and their daughter Anna become a little family. The plot took some turns I wasn't expecting (and I can't explain here because SPOILERS!) that ended up making the story feel richer. And I really appreciated the look at forgiveness and reconciliation and what those terms really mean.

It took me a bit to get into the novel, but once I was in, I was all in. This is an excellent second installment in Tuttle's Along Came Love series. Here's hoping there's a third book soon! 4-1/2 stars.
