Review: "Night Night, Angel" & "Slothy Claus"

When I was growing up, my mom gave each of us kids a book at Christmas. It's a tradition I loved, and I wish we had carried it on as we got older. If you like to give books at Christmas, here are two that would be perfect for the young kids in your life.

Review: "This Time Around" by Denise Hunter, Melissa Ferguson, & Kathleen Fuller

Do you read novellas? They've often gotten me out of a reading slump. You can read one in just a couple hours - great for an evening after a long day at work! Of course, romance novellas are my favorite, and This Time Around offers three great stories!

Review: "Everybody Fights" by Kim and Penn Holderness

If you've been on social media in the last few years, you've probably seen at least one video by Kim & Penn Holderness. Their clever parody videos have me constantly laughing. Now, they've written a book about marriage...which might seem like a funny choice for single me to read and review! But stick with me ...

Review: "It's Never Too Late" by Kathie Lee Gifford

Kathie Lee Gifford has been part of my world for as long as I can remember: I grew up watching Regis & Kathie Lee during the summers; my 8th grade graduation dress came from her Walmart line; I simply adored the Justin Timberlake - Maggie Lawson "classic" Model Behavior, which co-starred Kathie Lee and her son Cody; and A Godwink Christmas (co-starring, you guessed it, Kathie Lee) was my favorite Hallmark Christmas movie of the 2018 season. So of course I wanted to get my hands on her new memoir! It turned out to be a really fun read.

Review: "Breathe Again" by Stacy Henagan

There comes a point for everyone when God's action (or seeming inaction) doesn't make sense. What then? That's what Stacy Henagan addresses in her Christian living book/memoir Breathe Again.

Review: "The Grown Woman's Guide to Online Dating" by Margot Starbuck

Online dating ... an area I've dipped a toe into once or twice but haven't done seriously in years. So I was intrigued when I heard about The Grown Woman's Guide to Online Dating ... and I also had to remind myself that reading a book wouldn't obligate me to get back out there!

Review: "Fragments of Light" by Michèle Phoenix

I've heard great things about Michèle Phoenix's writing, but Fragments of Light is the first of her novels I've read. And I can tell you that it certainly won't be the last!

Review: "The Woman in the Green Dress" by Tea Cooper

This cover 😍😍😍 Doesn't it just scream, "Read me!" Fortunately, the story inside is just as wonderful as the cover!

Review: "The Summer House" by Lauren K. Denton

If you like Southern fiction, then Lauren K. Denton is the author for you! The Summer House is the second of her novels that I've read, and it evokes such a sweet charm that you just want to immerse yourself in the story. And, maybe it will make you want to visit Safe Harbor in person, even if you're not quite the appropriate age 🙂

Review: "Masquerade at Middlecrest Abbey" by Abigail Wilson

In the past six months or so, I've developed a great love for Regency romance. I'd enjoyed a few titles here and there in the past (mainly written by Julie Klassen and Carolyn Miller), but for me, 2020 is turning into the year of the Regency! So if you take a Regency-era novel and combine it with a marriage of convenience plot (my favorite romance trope!), you've got a book I can't resist!

Review: "Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire" by Jen Hatmaker

Five years ago, I was on the launch team for Jen Hatmaker's For the Love. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the book changed my life. (See my review here.) In the time since she wrote For the Love, Hatmaker went through a very public (and very painful) shift in some of her beliefs, which moved her out of the conservative Evangelical sphere where I still reside. I think it's very healthy to hear from voices different from our own, so I was eager to read Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire—knowing that I wouldn't agree with 100% of Hatmaker's words but hoping to understand a different perspective and find myself challenged.

Review: "It's Not Over" by Joshua Gagnon

Do you ever feel restless? Like you were made for more than what you're currently doing with your life? The good news is that, as long as you're still alive, there's time to work toward the dreams God placed inside you, because It's Not Over.

Review: "A Girl's Guide to the Outback" by Jessica Kate

You know how they talk about the sophomore slump? That is certainly not the case with Jessica Kate's second novel—I adored A Girl's Guide to the Outback!

Review: "The Thief of Lanwyn Manor" by Sarah E. Ladd

I just checked, and the last time I read a Sarah E. Ladd novel was in 2016. What??? She's one of the authors responsible for my love of Regency romance ... and somehow, her books fell off my radar. Well, no more—The Thief of Lanwyn Manor reminded me why I liked her books in the first place!
