First Line Fridays: "Shelter of the Most High"

Happy Friday! Since it's fall, I thought my First Line Fridays graphic needed a little update—the old one looked very summerish. This one should last me through both fall and winter 😊.

For this week's FLF, I'm spotlighting a book I've been looking forward to reading for a long time: Connilyn Cossette's Shelter of the Most High.

Island of Sicily
1388 BC

The pulse of the sea pressed me forward, urging my body deeper into its embrace.

While this book started slowly for me, I'm now halfway through and loving it! Cossette has a way of bringing Bible times to life, and this Cities of Refuge series is excellent!

Check out the book on Amazon & Goodreads.
Read my review of A Light on the Hill (4-1/2 stars), the first book in the series.

  1. I have just started Becoming Mrs. Lewis by Patti Callahan. The first line is: "From the beginning it was the Great Lion that brought us together."

    Happy weekend!

  2. I thought A Light on the Hill was excellent, and I'm looking forward to reading this one as well. Thanks for sharing!

I've just finished reading Things Left Unsaid by Courtney Walsh (one of those books I opened to get the first line to share, but it hooked me so now I'm sharing the first line after I've read the last. And I'm sharing a day late. #SorryNotSorry). Here's the first line:

"This is it, Lyndie. Don't blow it."

On my blog, I'm sharing from an old favourite Australian contemporary Christian romance that's recently been re-released: Return to Baragula by Mary Hawkins. I hope you get a chance to check it out.

    1. I just recently "met" Walsh through Just Let Go, and I definitely want to read more of her books!

I'd never heard of Hawkins before, so I just looked her up on Goodreads. Her books sound really interesting! Thanks for the introduction :-)

  3. I'll be reading this one soon!
This week on my blog I shared Ours for a Season by Kim Vogel Sawyer but I'm currently reading Chosen People by Robert Whitlow so here I'll share the first line from my current chapter (26): "Hana had trouble containing her excitement during her morning Skype session with Daud." Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of reading!
