Happy Monday, and Happy Birthday to my dad!

Got a lot of reading done last week ... partly because a review sneaked up on me, and partly because my most anticipated book of the year arrived in my mailbox!
What I read last week:
To the Farthest Shores by Elizabeth Camden. This book is incredibly engaging, and Camden is an excellent writer, but the romance didn't really resonate with me. (review & rating to come)
Looking Glass Lies by Varina Denman. I've been writing this review for a few days now—I'm still processing! This book is really good ... and really hard to read at times. (review & rating to come)
Forensic Faith by J. Warner Wallace. This is the book that I forgot I had to read. Oops!!! At least it was good! (5 stars)
What I listened to on audiobook:
The French Chef in America by Alex Prud'homme. I started listening to this Julia Child biography in February, I think. I only listened to it during longer trips, like to and from church (30 minutes each way), so it took a while! But it was completely fascinating. (review & rating to come)
What I'm reading now:
True to You by Becky Wade. There's only one reason I haven't finished True to You, my most anticipated release of the year: Forensic Faith. If I'd been on top of things, I would've read Forensic Faith early, and then I could've devoted all my time to True to You. I've read 3/4 of it, and it. is. amazing.
You'll Think of Me by Robin Lee Hatcher. I'm still enjoying this sweet romance, which is my current lunch break read.
What I'll read next:
Honestly, I doubt I'll be doing much reading—unless you count articles about the Cubs, which I somehow find time to read every day—as it's yearbook crunch time! (Also. Did you hear about the marathon 18-inning game the Cubs had with the Yankees last night? I quit watching after the 13th. Why can't there be ties during the regular season?)
I hope you've had a great reading week! I'd love to hear about what you're reading now!

I'm currently making my way through The Happiness Project (nonfiction) by Gretchen Rubin. Liking it so far!
ReplyDeleteYou know I keep the nonfiction to a minimum ... you'll just have to tell me about it :-)
DeleteSo I've been in a reading slump lately...I'll start a book and then not finish it. I just haven't been in to reading as of late. Right now I'm currently reading "I Liked My Life" by Abby Fabiaschi. It's a general fiction book and the language is raw, but the subject pulls at my heart. As of now I'm only 25 pages in, we'll see if I continue. Others waiting on my desk (I'm a librarian) to be read include "The Magdalen Girls by V.S. Alexander and "Threads of Suspicion" by Dee Henderson.
ReplyDeleteI SO understand the reading slump, Shondra! I was in one myself not too long ago. I hope either your current read or one of your upcoming ones really grabs you. Also, you're a librarian? How cool! I've always wanted to work in a library--sounds like a book lover's dream come true. Thanks for stopping by!
