Happy (cold, cold, cold) Monday! It's currently 17° with a wind chill of 8, and it's only going to get worse over the next few days. However, I'm thankful that we're not facing the extreme cold that my friends in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan have coming their way. Can't it be spring yet?

Happy Monday! I wasn't so sure at the beginning of the day if it would be a happy Monday. Remember that cracked tooth I talked about a few weeks ago? Well, it broke/chipped on Friday. So I went to my dentist this morning with visions of dollar signs in my head, fearful that I'd need a crown. He took one look and said he could fix it with a filling. Just over $100, as opposed to upwards of $1,000? I'll take the filling, thank you very much! I'm such a fan of my dentist! (Dr. Maas in Fullerton, for any of you locals.)

It's Monday again ... and it's been a Monday, if you know what I mean. My day started out at the dentist, where I learned what I feared: I have a cracked tooth. It's apparently not terrible yet, so we can take a watch and wait approach, but eventually I'll need a crown. Joy.

Happy Monday! When I woke up this morning, my very first thought was, "What day is it? Why is my alarm going off?" It really felt like today should be Saturday or Sunday ... but certainly not Monday! That's because my weekend was unusual: my mom, sister, and I drove down to the Kansas State Fair on Saturday and drove back home yesterday.

Happy Monday! Well, it may be a happy Monday ... we'll know in about an hour. September baseball is not for the feint of heart, that's for sure! The Cubs bullpen is a hot mess right now, and I cringe every time certain pitchers take the mound. (Perhaps this is early panicking on my part—after all the Cubs still hold the best record in the National League. But those pesky Brewers are right on their tails ...) Anyway, on to the books, shall we?

Happy Monday! And, for those of you in the United States, Happy Labor Day! Labor Day has always been one of my favorite holidays, not for the meaning behind it (I'll be honest: I don't know the history behind Labor Day) but for the day off it represents. When I was younger, my family always went camping with a couple other families over Labor Day Weekend, and it was such fun! Now, I just love that it's an extra day off after the first few weeks of school 😊.

Happy Monday! This blog was absolutely silent over the last week ... because I was on vacation! My college roommate Jodi and her husband invited me along on a trip to San Francisco. We were only there for two full days (three nights), but it was so fun!

Going into the trip, there was only one thing I absolutely "had" to do (besides reconnecting with Jodi): find the Full House house! Turns out, it was just a couple blocks from our Airbnb.

Happy Monday! It almost feels like I should be wishing you a Happy Fall, too ... it's 66°, cloudy, and windy, and it certainly feels like fall. (Crazy—in a few months, 66° will feel like a heat wave!)

School started last Tuesday, which made for a crazy week, and I hardly read a thing. I should have lots of reading opportunities over the next few days, so hopefully my list will be longer next week!

Happy Monday! It's been a week ... I'm recovering from a summer cold that started coming on Tuesday night and got progressively worse through Friday. I'm getting better, but I still have really low energy ... which isn't good, considering school starts tomorrow!

Happy Friday! I missed last week's FLF because of a road trip to Pawhuska, Oklahoma, home of The Pioneer Woman! My sisters and I took our mom as a belated birthday gift, and it was such fun! (You can see more about it here.)

Happy Monday! I'm writing from the basement of my parents' house, as we're currently in a tornado warning. When that happens, I load up my cats and come on over—I don't have a basement. The cats don't particularly enjoy being brought over, but it makes me feel better 😉.

Yesterday, my mom, sisters, and I got back from a whirlwind trip to Oklahoma and Kansas. We went to Pawhuska, home of the Pioneer Woman, for Mom's (belated) birthday. Then we visited family and friends in Kansas before returning home. It was such fun!

Happy Monday! So last week ended up being much less busy than I anticipated—some things got cancelled, which I was totally OK with. Because of that reduced schedule, I was able to read a ton last week. And it was really nice 😊.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (7-23-18)

Happy Monday! So I took an unintentional blogging break last week—I didn't post anything at all Tuesday through Saturday. That was due in large part to my insanely busy schedule. I'm one of those people who likes to enjoy quiet evenings at home (and it's better for my thyroid, too), and I didn't have that last week. At all. Everything I did was good: meeting with the incoming student council, hanging out with my young cousins, and celebrating a friend's 40th birthday, to name a few; however, I also didn't feel like opening up my computer when I finally did get home! This week looks to be about half as busy as last week (which is still busier than I'd like!), and I hope to blog with a little more regularity.

Happy Monday! I'm writing this during my lunch break, after what has felt like an incredibly long morning. Not sure why; I have plenty of work to do, so I'm keeping busy. But the 3-1/2 hours between work and lunch just felt interminable. So instead of thinking ahead to what might be an equally long afternoon, I'm looking back on the weekend, when I saw Ant-Man and the Wasp with my mom.

Happy July! It certainly feels like July around here. For the first time in several years, I'm not starting July with a trip to Indiana to see my sister, since she now lives in Florida (and we went to see her at the end of May). It feels ... strange,  especially since Timehop keeps showing me trip pictures.

Happy Monday!!! It's been a while since I've participated, as my June has been consumed by vacation (to Florida—I talk briefly about it here, and I have loads of pics on Instagram), yearbook (FINALLY FINISHED!!!), and a sweet three days with college roomie Jennifer and her daughter. So I've been busy but not particularly productive when it comes to reading. I'm hoping to change that this week. We'll see!

Happy Monday! School's out (ALL THE PRAISE HANDS) ... but I still have lots of yearbooking to do. The yearbook isn't exactly at fault for my measly reading last week, though. Instead, I blame Mayhem and Tad Hamilton.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (5-14-18)

It's Monday again! This morning, one of my coworkers said to me, "We did xyz last week, didn't we?" And I was like, "Last week was a blur. I have no idea." In addition to yearbook (which is still consuming so much of my time), we had our final student council event of the year, academic awards, graduation practice (which took so much longer than any other graduation practice has in all my years at Nebraska Christian), and graduation. And that's just the work stuff!

Needless to say, I didn't do much reading. At all. I do have some review deadlines looming at the end of the month and beginning of next month, so I need to kick it into gear this week ... even though my brain feels pretty fried by the time I get home from work.

Happy Monday! So it seems like we skipped right over spring and went straight to summer. Seriously, two weeks ago I was running my heater, and right now, at 8:30 p.m., it's 80° in my living room ... because I'm refusing to turn on my air conditioning yet.

Happy Monday! I'm actually writing this on Sunday in an attempt to get this up in a timely manner 😉. Two It's Mondays in a row? Practically unheard of!

Last week was crazy, but I did manage to take in the new Avengers movie. I really liked it, and I'm eager to see how things resolve with part two next year.

School wise, we're down to just over one week with seniors and 2-1/2 weeks with everyone else, so it's definitely crunch time when it comes to yearbook. I'm feeling good about this book overall (way more positive than I was this time last year), but I still have a ton of work to do. Right now, my focus is getting edits back to students quickly so they can get their pages finished up. Fortunately, my editor this year is great at both grammar and at making sure captions match up to pictures and that everyone is pictured, so that makes things easier for me!
