What I read last week:
Homestands by Sally Bradley. I really enjoyed this mix of romance, suspense, family drama, and baseball. (review & rating to come)
Buying Love by Toni Shiloh. I really loved some aspects of this novel. I didn't care for other aspects. But overall, I did enjoy reading Buying Love, and I'll keep an eye out for Shiloh's future novels. (3 stars)
What I'm reading now:
A Matter of Trust by Susan May Warren. I got this ARC of Warren's next novel (releasing in July) last week, and I started reading it immediately! I'm loving it so far.
The Versions of Us by Laura Barnett. I finally decided to give this book one last shot. If it doesn't improve soon, it'll become one of my extremely rare "did not finish" reads.
The Lassoed by Marriage Romance Collection. I'm normally not one for novella collections, but this one—full of marriage of convenience stories—caught my eye. It didn't hurt that it was only 49¢! (It still is, as of this writing.) I've read the first three so far, and they're all in the 4-star range.
What I'll read next:
Life After by Katie Ganshert. I mean it this time. Really :-)

I wasn't the biggest 'Emma' fan in the beginning, but I grew to love it as well as LBD as it went on. They're both such fun little series. :)
ReplyDeleteYAY for Susan May Warren and Katie Ganshert (SO GOOD). Also looking forward to Sally's book. :)
It took me a long time to warm up to Emma herself—but then Emma is one of my least favorite Austen heroines, too. I kept going, though, because I LOVED Alex. And eventually, I found myself totally swept into the story :-) Have you watched any of Pemberley Digital's other series? I watched the first episode of the one based on Little Women, and I didn't like any of the girls, so I quit. Maybe I'll go back later--but they really set the bar high with LBD and Emma Approved!
DeleteI watched one or two of other series (cannot remember which!), but in my opinion, they weren't up to par. (Plus, I didn't think Pemberley Digital had the control over them that they did LBD or 'Emma,' but I could be wrong.) I think I watched a few Little Women episodes, but I didn't care for the ways they were adapting it, so yeah, I quite too. As you say, the bar was set high with LBD and Emma Approved. :)
DeleteNice covers...I hope the insides are good. They do look good.
ReplyDeleteENJOY your books and have a great week.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Thanks for stopping by, Elizabeth! I'll hop on over to check out your list now :-)
DeleteThank you for stopping by my blog.
DeletePlease let me know what books you said you liked from my list.
Life After is one I would choose from your list.
I'm currently in between books, I can't decide what I want to read next. I just finished up "Deep Extraction" by DiAnn Mills, and the "Ashfall" series by Mike Mullin. I have a few ARCs sitting around, maybe I'll see which has the best cover and go with that one (I'm such a cover freak, lol)!
ReplyDeleteOh, I totally understand the cover thing, Shondra! A great cover gets me every time. I hope you enjoy whichever book you end up picking up next!
