First Line Fridays: "If I Live"

Happy Friday! And Happy Christmas Keepsake Week!!! (Which is actually more than a week, but I'm not complaining ...) It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Hallmark movies, and I love the weeks in July when they play Christmas movies. I've watched a couple movies on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries over the last week, as Hallmark's sister station has its Christmas week first. But I definitely prefer the movies that air on Hallmark Channel, and I may have spent a little too much time last night perusing my TV app, adding reminders for all the movies I'd like to catch. I'm sure I won't watch all of them, but Countdown to Christmas will be here before we know it, and I'll get them then 😃.

Also, my favorites of last year's new movies, in case you're wondering? Switched for Christmas, Coming Home for Christmas, and Christmas at Holly Lodge.

I don't really know how to segue from Hallmark Christmas movies to this week's book, so let's just get to it, shall we?

This week, I'm sharing the first line of my current "just for fun" book, Terri Blackstock's If I Live.

"Fried rice isn't worth dying for."

As I expected, If I Live kicks off at breakneck pace, and I can't wait to see how it all turns out! (Note: If you haven't read this series yet, you need to start with book one, as each book builds on the last.)

Check out the book on Amazon & Goodreads.

What are you currently reading? Share the first line in the comments, and then head over to Hoarding Books to see what others are sharing! Also, I'd love to know if you're a fan of Christmas movies in July and which ones are your "must sees!"

  1. My first line comes from The Counterfeit Heiress by Tasha Alexander

I raised the long, curved bow and with two fingers pulled back its string, all the while resisting the urge to remove one of the silver-shafted arrows nestled in the quiver slung over my shoulder.

  3. Happy Friday! The book I'm featuring on my blog is "My Sister's Intended" by Rachael Anderson. It's been on my TBR list for quite some time now, but I finally read it and am so glad I did. Truly an enjoyable read. I will share the first line from Chapter Eleven here. ""Would you care to go for a stroll with me in the gardens, Miss Gifford?" Brand asked, not sure whether or not he wanted her to accept."

  4. Happy Friday!

Switched for Christmas is so fun! The past few Christmases, my roommate and I have made sure to watch Candace Cameron Bure's newest movie.

I’m reading The Dear Reader by Mary O'Connell right now, so here’s the first line: “Miss Sweeney disappeared on the first day of March, an icy Thursday morning of gloves and boots and veneers of diamondy frost on the windows of Sacred Heart High School.”

    1. I'm so excited! So is my dad, who's a bigger Hallmark fan than I am :-) I will admit that it ends up getting a little overwhelming trying to catch them all, as I don't have a DVR ... but that's why Christmas Keepsake Week is so nice--I can see the ones I missed during the Christmas season!

  6. Happy Friday! My first line is from La Risposta: The Answer (A Tuscan Legacy book 9) by Autumn Macarthur:

Prologue: “Instead of returning to her vegetable garden, Teresa Pellegrini rushed into the farmhouse.”

  7. LOVED the whole If I Run series!
The book I shared on my blog this week is Her Place in Time by Stephenia H McGee but my next book is going to be The Baker's secret by Stephen P Kiernan so I'll share that first line here: "All through those years of war, the bread tasted of humiliation." Hope you have happy weekend with plenty of reading! :)

    Happy Reading!
